Separated ---Divorce on the way

Posted in Group:

My wife of 24 years left me and filed for divorce about 3-months ago. When leaving she said that she agreed with me to take some time and figure out what the next step would be--because I told her I did not want to divorce and wanted us both to work on saving the marriage.

She was supposed to be going to her mothers in Nashville and ended up moving to, supposedly, a girl friend in Atlanta.

She returned for 2-days at Christmas to see our children and I thought to talk and hopefully (my hopes) to reconcile and work on the marriage. She wouldn't talk about reconciling and wouldn't commit that she had moved on with her life. After being gone for 2-months, she staye only 2-days and left saying she had to get back to the cat she had taken with her. I have since met her wishes to start the divorce.

I fell that she has been lying to me and has in fact found a different man based on the way she acts.

I feel so betrayed and lonely, I never thought my life would end up like this.

What comments does anyone suggest about trying through a PI to see if she has in fact "hooked up" with someone else? This won't matter relative to the divorce since it is in a "no-fault" state, but I wonder if knowig for sure is a good or bad thing?

Tough, honest thoughts and feelings. The world has come crashing down on both of you. Whereas there is no silver bullet to make what happens next painless and simple for either, committing to make all decisions and choices, big and small, that support one's emotional health, is a pretty good start. Check out a book titled "Getting Back Together" by Bettie Young, as the first fifty pages are great at organizing one's thoughts about what are the realistic possibilities. Be well.
